PPC Graduate Student Appointed to Fellowship Program

Joseph Hamm, a Public Policy Center Graduate research assistant and doctoral student in psychology and law, was one of eight UNL students to be appointed to the Center for Great Plains Studies 2013 Graduate Fellows Program.

According to the press release the program "provides a place for select graduate students to work, meet, obtain support, learn from fellow students, engage with Center faculty and staff, benefit from the center's resources and progress in their studies."

2012 LOSS Conference to be held in Nebraska

The 2012 LOSS (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Conference will be held May 31 - June 1, 2012 in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Dr. Frank Campbell, a leading expert in Suicidology along with other experts, will share the lessons learned in years of helping survivors of suicide, how sudden traumatic loss impacts survivors and grief through the different developmental stages.
Other speakers include Jennifer Bass (MED) and Pam Dinneen (LMHP, FT) from Mourning Hope Grief Center; Lezlie Culver, LOSS Team Coordinator from Mental Health America of Greater Tarrant County; and Brittany Buquoi (MSW, LMSW), LOSS Coordinator from the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center. Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk (AMSR) Training presented by Dr. Don Belau will be available following the conference on May 2, 2012. Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Social workers, LDAC and LMHP Programs approved by the Nebraska Nurses Association are acceptable for continuing education for clinical psychologists by the State of Nebraska.
