Water Resources

Water is a key natural resource across the globe. Water is essential for personal, agricultural, and community sustainability. Nebraska sits atop the Ogallala/High Plains Aquifer and ranks 10th in states for the number of miles of rivers and streams. However, personal, commercial, and agricultural demands have put a strain on Nebraska 's water resources, a situation similar in many jurisdictions in the nation and across the globe. The Public Policy Center has worked in local communities to address water quality issues, sponsored community discussions about state water policy, and examining how agricultural producers make decisions about their irrigation needs.
