Public Policy Center Research Specialist and manager of the Gambler's Assistance Program Evaluation project,
Dr. Juan Paulo Ramirez, was called upon by a reporter for the Santiago Times as a source of information on gambling and the consequences of a gambling addiction. In a year long project entitled Energy & The Future, undergraduate students at the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center conducted research on alternative energy issues facing Nebraska, and developed a background document summarizing the public policy choices that face the state in regards to ethanol, biodiesel, wind, solar, and nuclear energy. Students with the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications traveled across the state of Nebraska and visited with congressional representatives in Washington D.C. to research and produce a video documentary about alternative energy. The project partners also convened two discussion groups about alternative energy featuring UNL students and a variety of experts.
